Cwm Deri Vineyard

I’m spending a few days near Narberth in Pembrokeshire.

After talking to a nice lady from the Cwm Deri vineyard and restaurant at the Narberth food and drink festival, I decided to make a visit to this lovely vineyard nestled in the Pembrokeshire National Park about 10 miles from Tenby.

The hills of the surrounding area are lush and green, Cwm Deri vineyard sits amongst them, the rows of grape vines following the lay of the soft, rolling countryside.

Cwm Deri Vineyard Pembrokeshire

The Cwm Deri estate started the vineyard in 1988, opening its doors to the public in 1992. It has gone from strength to strength, expanding its facilities over the years to the fabulous visitor attraction that it is today.

Adults can indulge in wine tastings, as well as enjoying a walk through the vineyard.

There is an extensive wine list to taste and purchase.

On arrival in the restaurant I was given a tasting tray, with available wines and liqueurs to try.

It was like a new board game…using tasting beakers to mark the wines one wishes to sample. Once I made my selection, the tray was whisked away and my choice of wines brought to me.

I thought this was a brilliant idea, the tray comes with a wine list which describes each wine along with it’s tasting notes.

It was huge fun to read and I was able to make an informed decision.

Good thing I wasn’t driving.

Group visits are encouraged. The vineyard offers a guided tour, tasting, and a talk, followed by lunch or afternoon tea. Booking for group visits is essential.

Why not visit this lovely vineyard for a warm welcome and wine experience.

There are some great walks through the vineyard, woodlands and by the ponds.

Cwm Deri Restaurant

A conservatory with views across the Pembrokeshire countryside and the vines, is where you will find the restaurant.

There are also tables in the wine and gift shop for drinks, snacks and cake.

Also there is seating outside on the terrace.

The restaurant seems to have a solid reputation with locals and visitors alike.

Lunch and afternoon tea is served daily.

It is open for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Cwm Deri Wines and Liqueurs

Wine

Cwm Deri offers a wide range of wines, reds, whites, rosé and sparkling.

Made from the grapes and other fruits such as their orchard apples, elderflower, elderberry and even using the vine leaves for unique flavouring and notes.

I particularly enjoyed the Black Cherry country wine, a deep, fruity, red that will be perfect with red meats, duck and game.

Also a delicious accompaniment to your favourite cheese platter.

My next favourite choice was a wild damson rosé, I prefer a dry rosé and this one hit the right notes with me. Made from local apples, brambles and damsons. It is an unusual wine that I enjoyed immensely.

Liqueurs

The list of liqueurs is mouth watering and I did buy some at the aforementioned food and drink festival.

  • Elderberry Port
  • Spiced Honey Rum
  • Elderflower Gin
  • Parma Violet Gin
  • Sloe Gin
  • Black currant Gin
  • Wild Bramble

These are just a few of them, for more choice please visit the Cwm Deri website
